Yup Ian M-D, with Fred Harris and Lesley Judd in the later ones. Brilliant presenters, Fred Harris especially. By chance i was looking up some Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe on youTube in the last hour and found a piece on the show here:

Some great memories of watching Micro Live on a Friday evening and all of those other BBC Micro programmes. Seeing that owl takes me right back to my teenage years.

There are some more clips here.

Looks like someone tried to break an embargo... a video of the new Capes ident was posted on the site below and removed again!

Capes has been removed and once again slightly delayed as the audio is being revised... Sad Hopefully not taking away from its already great soundtrack.

Not sure where to put this... but I just saw a Department of Work and Pensions PIF on BBC1 at the junction out of Weatherview and before the crossover to News 24 ( ching! ) It was about equality, and was subtitled and signed. PIFs which aren't related to TV services are a rare sighting, even overnight, I imagine...

They occasionally do insert a PIF before taking BBC News overnight, as they used to before closedowns.

It was a couple of years ago or so, but I saw them show one of those animated 'never play with matches' PIFs before News 24 once!

I've spotted the odd one after News 24/News Channel ahead of Breakfast as well as after Ceefax before regular programming over on BBC Two.

Few and far between now.

Five usually shows that one or Francis the Firefly daily between Milkshake and The Wright Stuff oddly.

Just been informed that the revised version is to launch onscreen in the next few weeks. (but that is from Red Bee not BBC Marketing so only knows!)

Why did they revise it?

Indeed. And no 'That was a Public Information Film' announcement at the end these days either. Someone remind me why they did this, and why they don't do it now... is/was it a case of stating the bleedin' obvious?

Probably to stop p*ssed people late at night thinking a warning about chip pan fires was some kind of groundbreaking drama.

It's being revised already? Judging by your comments and those of others that have seen it, the ident is fab in its current form. Hopefully they won't ruin it.

Will be good to finally see it, I hope, after all the chat about it!

Would be interesting to know how many people actually know what an ident is...I observe that most people talk right over both the ident and continuity announcer.

Those who have recorded programmes fast forward right up to the start and don't recognise idents as they then have to rewind slightly.

Any research out there to say what % of people watch and recongnise them?
