And since 2000 there have been two Summer Olympic games. That said, BBC2 does seem to pull its finger out more with regards to the Winter games.
That doesn't count though because all BBC2 did was reuse a Christmas ident.

But at least someone could be bothered to rootle through the old tapes and transfer the right one to the server.

Yes, I would have loved money to be spent on a new ident despite the Christmas ones being great.

The problem we have with these new BBC1 idents is that because they are so expensive they don't want to do ones that can't be reused in several junctions.

Indeed, and a beautiful soundtrack keeping in with the BBC One jingle, reminds me very much of the Snowball soundtrack in a way.

Did it get shown today? Or is it still waiting to?

It's good that the BBC One jingle can be clearly heard on the ident, sometimes it can only be heard right at the end like with Space.

The filename on that still says 'Bikes' - but there's already an ident by that name - so what's it actually called? Confused

At the junction after Casualty , the announcer spoke over a menu for the Olympics this evening. He must be talking about the 2038 Olympics, not 2008, as he was advertising the swimming grand final in which American swimmer Matthew Phelps would be competing.

Whoops...

Is that a new BBC One ident? I didn't know they were bringing out a new ident to add to their collection.

For your information, at the start of The National Lottery Draws last Wednesday (6 August), I saw the non-Xmas version of "Penguins". Two things made it different from the Xmas 2007 version.

1) No red bauble Xmas tree in the centre of the rink.

2) Different music. Instead of the "Da da, da-ra da-ra da-ra daaa" music we had at Xmas, a totally different tune played on a banjo.

How often does BBC One show that non-Xmas version of Penguins? I've yet to get that for my ident collection.
