My God they just played Helicopter in full!!! Shocked

I wish they'd show it more often as it is such a beautiful ident.

The link with the circle concept is weak, but place that aside and I have to agree with you; right now it's my favourite ident of the set purely for the direction and music.

I saw an extended showing of the short version into the news headlines the other day too - long plays during the daytime junctions often do take me by surprise!

It's quite often played out in full going into Breakfast at 6am....for those who like to be up and about that early Wink

Thanks for the tip, Helicopter is pretty hard to catch Wink

They showed Penguins today before Doctors. I thought they'd put it away for summer as I hadn't seen it in a long time. Also I like what they do with the endboard for Britain Above Ground. Has anybody managed to get any screencaps of it?

It's hardly been used since its first showing (i.e. the non-Christmas version) but I was happy to see it back today too!

This is a problem the BBC always have. They create a whole bunch of idents and then use the same few all over again. It's like the balloon era, they had the largest number of idents ever for BBC1 and after awhile they just kept showing the same ones over and over again. I do find that very annoying.

I personally don't like the idea of a self imposed limit on the BBC1 idents and think they should have 3 or 4 new ones each year and incorporate them into the set. But as they are seemingly so expensive to produce that won't be happening. I liked how BBC2 would constantly throw in new idents but I hated how they would withdraw some. I can't believe they took off Silk!!! Evil or Very Mad

Did anyone see the junction before " Bargain Hunt " yesterday? ( 1st Aug ). The BBC One Scotland announcer seemed to be full of witty banter over the end credits of " Cash in the Attic " and into the forementioned programme ( ie didn't sound like he was reading off a script ) and made some joke about singing the " Challenge Anneka " theme tune because she was going to be on " Cash in the Celebrity Attic " but if he did he'd get the sack! Just wondered if he strayed from the normal script... Smile

BTW - when i did turn on " Cash in the Celebrity Attic " it was Helen Lederer!

It had been previously billed as the Aneka Rice programme, and I'm not sure when the change took place, but the Helen Lederer programme was the correct one on the day. We were certainly pointing H.L. in the afternoon in Wales. Perhaps a bit of over-enthusiastic scripting in Scotland without checking EPG?

These things happen - like an infamous occasion on BBC 2W when the paperwork didn't quite match the programme (a 5' filler and the only one I hadn't watched all the way through) due to a bit of cut-and-paste enthusiasm in the preperation of it. I managed to do a very tounge-in-cheek... nay very sarcastic... intro to what I thought was going to be a programme about the river Wye. It was in fact about the river Usk!! Embarassed

I recall there being a rather nice joke at the 9pm junction on BBC1 into Would I Lie to You - it was either Duncan Newmarch or Phil Vowels (I think) who said "And now, with some strong language, this is BBC2 ... now would I lie to you?"

Excellent stuff.

A joke beloved of cheesy DJs everywhere going into Charles and Eddie tracks!

Got round to watching it last night and the announcer was definitely not Duncan or Phil. I believe it was actually Peter Offer.

Good to see Space yesterday just before The Weakest Link in full and the announcer speaking after the form up.

Has anyone seen the Ring-A-Roses / Flowers ident ( or whatever it's called before someone corrects me! ) on BBC One lately?

I've not seen it on BBC One Scotland for ages.
