I think it was a little showreel type thing they created after Neon won an award.

Indeed, the music initially used when constructing the ident was one similar to the current music, but lacking that 'umph' and BBC One Jingle as the hook. You can see from the grabs below whilst it was in production that its highly detailed.

I don't have any plans to do a video mock, I was just trying out making a balloon, and did a quick render, and some effects to try to make it seem less like CG.

I have modelled the inside of the balloon, the alternative colouring, the little strips of fabric, and a quick flame texture image.

The problems with doing recreations are, sourcing the HD Video for the location, which is practically impossible for me with 0 resources to hand lol. Plus my lack of skill to pull off a realistic balloon.

I suppose you could record some decent aerial shots from HD programmes like Planet Earth and Coast. Either captured from the HD channels (providing you have the necessary technology), or recorded from HD DVD.

Could the extra parts of the Neon Ident be stings for the ident that haven't been used, or rarely used.

Yes they are, we've already established that, and not rarley either (or not to begin with), the stings were used in every junction when the ident was first introduced, not sure if they are still used though.

I haven't seen any stings on Saturday nights for ages. I think they have been dropped.

When Neon was first introduced they used stings a lot.

It's unfortunate that the article in RadioTimes came out on the week Chiles had split from his wife seeing as it promotes the "chemistry" between him and his co-presenter.

It should be pointed out that Christine is in a relationship and nobody has suggested that he has left his wife for her.
