Absolutely, it was the music we were all referring to, and purely in that aspect, the dancers were IMO superior to the current set.
However, doesn't mean people should knock the more 'serious' of the dancer idents. The likes of Ballet and Skaters, when judged against the rest of the set, were some of the very best for showcasing a level of real skill by the performers while being backed by powerful music.
As I have said before, it is those poor idents such as Maasai or Music Video that appear to have unfortunately tarnished the whole set. But I am able to both appreciate the stronger idents, while still agreeing with anyone who says the Balloon was better because, it was evidently BBC One's best identity. But if it had been succeeded by something on the level of, say, UKTV Gold's current idents, I would have been seriously annoyed!
