Up to Shorter idents (December 2006)

Actually if you look closely most of the original set feature a coloured swirl and, of the additions, Magical Forest and Mission Control also use one. It appears they have gotten a bit lazy as not one of the idents added after these two have used a coloured swirl (excluding the BBC1 Wales specials).

It may only be a very minor criticism but the idents that do use a coloured swirl look more polished and professional imo.

I think there is only one more that might have a coloured swirl that I missed out and that's Hippos, but with the remainder it's always white. And you're right that after the initial batch no other idents did this. You'd think that with Penguins they'd not use a white swirl as it would be difficult to make out. Maybe they should have an ident with BBC One in a different colour to mix it up a littIe.

That would be silly - it'd just look odd amongst the rest.

Possibly but with the Doctor Who trailers for Voyage Of The Damned at Christmas BBC One was written in silver and looked rather snazzy. As long as the logo is in the same place I think it would work no matter what colour it is.

Really? I thought it looked really good in shimmering silver.

Just saw a trailer for Bonekickers which is doing different with the endboard and very cleverly too. BBC One is in the same place but how they put it onscreen at the end is different and it's actually written in a different font. Rather nice I must say.

Did anyone see The One Show last night? They cut away to a VT but the picture switched back to the studio (with the VT audio still playing) and we got a little glimpse of stuff we shouldn't see.

I notice that on the Doctor Who website the Fear Factor Family have spotted what seems to be a special ident for this Saturday's episode.

Really? Have you seen it yet and if you have is it live action or cgi enhanced?

So we could be getting two new ones shortly.

As for Fear Factor it's unusual for them to comment on an ident. It could be new but would they put a new ident on a preview disc? We'll probably be seeing Neon again on Saturday but I'd love to be proved wrong.

yes, its really nice actually. lots of bikes with people with different coloured macs on...it's live action thought there might be a bit of cgi for the resolve - they never look like they were just filmed.

there's another ident coming too, but i wasn't paying enough attention (!) i'll try and find out...

bbc two are looking to do more idents at the moment, they will be additional idents not a rebrand. i think there will be quite a few of them too...
