Duncan? it has been a female announcer on bbc 1 all evening

Yes it was the new woman on Saturday night before Casualty and the News. She was also on mornings the other week. I think she is alright although there does tend to be quite long pauses at the end of her sentences.

She did seem a bit "Five-ish", not typical BBC and I wasn't keen. But it was her first Saturday night so she might get better.

I've heard her in the mornings and she does seem to be a departure from the usual BBC type continuity announcer. Can't explain it, it's a feeling I get from her delivery.

I think it might be her accent. It's not a common one on television but I can't quite place whereabouts it's from.

Not specifically about the BBC, but has anyone seen the new BBC HD advert where it says at the bottom of the screen 'TVs with Freesat HD built-in coming soon' - or something similar?

How will that even be possible...?

Presumably the TVs will have an integral satellite decoder, in the same way as most new TVs have an integrated DTT tuner.

Hardly rocket science.

Panasonic are planning to launch freesat HD integrated TVs this summer (or possibly a bit later).

These will include an integrated HD satellite receiver including freesat EPG and interactivity support - which means you just connect your LNB feed from your dish directly to your TV. I would imagine it would also have a Freeview tuner as well.

In the very early days of Sky, LG (I think - may have been Samsung), offered the same for Sky - it was effectively a Sky box inside a TV and looked just like a normal Sky receiver in user interface terms.

Thanks for the info.

Do you think it's possible they'd be releasing Freesat set top boxes without the need to have a dish?

Only if you employ some magical pixies to take the signal out of the sky and put it into your box.

Think about it for one a few moments and then tell us all why it wont happen.

I think that goes down as 'Post of The Week'.

I'm sure that I saw an advert for a Panasonic with freesat built in earlier on this evening.

Sounds like it will be a mixture of live action and CGI. It's about time we had a new ident as I've been getting withdrawal symptoms.

There is one thing that I'd like them to do with their new idents and that is change the colour of the swirl that reveals the BBC One in the centre. I think that only Surfers and Moon don't have a white swirl. Yes I know it's very pathetic and minor and for that I apologise.
