I just hope that the BBCs specal olympic ident is nothing like the olimpic logo its self Shocked

the best thing to do for the occation is have the balloon resurected and have it hovering above olympic city with some sort of human action involved.
its perfect it represents the whole world coming together at olymic city to witness and participate in the olympics in london

it should be suggested to the bbc

Yes we get the picture, you liked the balloon idents, as did most of us on here. Rolling Eyes

I think this applies again here.

The first time you mentioned this it was fine, but now you're exhausting it - will you stop mentioning about bringing back the Balloon.

I don't mean that in any aggressive way, but we must be realistic; despite its popularity, it's highly unlikely to ever be used again as a channel ident because doing so would appear to be a backward step. It doesn't fit with current symbols either, so suggesting to include it is futile.

That's not to say we won't see snippets of it in future - certain programmes that look at broadcasting are occasionally illustrated with snippets of idents past when talking about a channel and / or era, so it's worth keeping an eye out.

Rather than start a new thread -

Just now, in the junction between Traffic Cops and S'Ralan, BBC 1 Wales attempted to air a promo for, I believe, "Belonging" - which promptly froze in the manner of a DTT disruption (although I was watching on analogue.) It then happened again with another promo, then cut back to the frozen frame of Belonging, then into a static red enboard, then into a fully played out Bikers ident, and the announcer spoke at the end of the music.

Maybe not noteworthy, but it was bizarre. Problems at Llandaff?

Going into a programme about the Bollywood coming to Yorkshire (Regional?), there was an announcer that I had never heard before, and she said "now on one..." and I thought she didnt suit BBC One, I was also odd saying 1 and not BBC1 which saying BBC1 is much better.

It was regional and yes they always say 'now on one' for some reason when Leeds show other regional programmes

On a Sunday it is always "Now on One, The Super League Show with Harry Gration"

Agreed. And would it not make more sense to have an ident based around the circular olympic rings? (presuming the circle idents are still around in 2012)

I liked the way the globe was placed inside the middle ring of the olympic logo, a circular theme is needed for the idents, but whether the circles will be around for them.

I doubt it (this lot at least - they might make a new generation of circles in years to come though). 6 years without change is highly unlikely unless they're super-popular, which I doubt they are.

glad to see they've finally upgraded the "now on all 4 BBC channels" screen from that cartoon cheapskate screen they used to use.

On the subject of the current BBC One Idents, what's your favourite version of the music that accompanies them?

For me it's Kites followed by Hippos.

The short version of Hippos is nice, I like the drums.

Windows and Kites are my personal favourite though.

I have to say a lot of the music seems a bit 'daytime TV', but I do quite like Hippo.
