What is the significance of that shape in relation to the programme? It looks nice but I'm wondering why they are doing that.

Very good, I'm a big fan of 'candid' style advertising, a term I've just made up as I don't know the proper term for it, though I'm sure you know what I mean!

"Ambient" advertising is the marketing speek term I believe, jugalug.
