Since when did BBC One reintroduce the 'Next' Slug on the end of programmes? I happened to switch the television on at the end of Doctors and, before the credits, up popped a large red bar stating 'Next Diagnosis Murder' and the BBC One logo. Unlike the last incarnation it's higher up the screen and is about twice as big.

Hopefully it won't be making a reappearance. It's not needed, especially not when Phil Vowells thought we needed to be reminded and told us Diagnosis Murder was next over the credits.

It's been there for weeks - probably since Neighbours moved.

I'm not normally in at that time so that would explain why I've not seen it.

Still, I fail to see the need for it to be so large and obtrusive, or even if there is any need for it to be used at all.

I guess they don't want us to miss a 10 year old episode of Diagnosis Murder.

Exactly, especially when the same programme follows it day in, day out.


I don't mind them if they're well designed - but that one just isn't. The ones BBC2 use on Thursday nights do the job just as well, but are far less intrusive - even if they aren't really necessary.

One thing i find strange is that Murder She Wrote , and Diognosis murder used to be used when the other was offscreen, now its on bbc2 what is likely to replace DM now?

I assume the BBC are still planning to show All Saints at some point - that was touted as a replacement for Neighbours, though as it's a weekly series it couldn't fill the slot all year.

What do you expect? It is also used as a normal ident.

I was just thinking about that ident yesterday. I haven't seen it since they initially brought it back (minus decorations).

I think we're due a new ident now with Doctor Who coming back!! Having Neon lead-in to the show will just ruin the mood.

What about 'Space', that suits Doctor Who more, and was first used before Dr. Who.
