Don't know if the 10 O'Clock News was simulcast on News 24 wouldn't be suprised if it wasn't.

Considering the programme came from the News 24 studio/gallery they would have had little choice but to simulcast, which they did.

I assume this only happened because TC7 needs to get ready for Newsnight two minutes after the 10; a delay longer than 2 minutes would require something different to happen.

Setting up a studio for a down-the-line guest (as opposed to a regional opt transmission) requires at least some gallery staff and a reasonable amount of technical know-how.

I suspect it was only done because it immediately followed the regional opt, so just required gallery staff hanging around for a bit longer.

I'm not so sure. Most regional centre's day shifts finish around 7pm so that'd be a pretty expensive few minutes. Having said that, the new 8pm bulletin has meant that the late staff who would in the past have been on a break immediately after the opt now have to 'hang around' to set up, so perhaps they helped out with it!

Anyway, my point was that the Newsroom Cameras were designed specifically for easy down-the-line guest appearances or tape feeds. This is why we don't see the regional studios used on other programmes very often anymore.

I'll try to get it at 2pm. I assume they'll be using it all day.

EDIT:
That was a junction into a 4:3 programme. The ident looked messy as it jumped from 16:9 to 4:3 part-way through. I'll try again at 2:30 (into a film)

Some of the newsroom cameras look awful, especially compared with the kit surrounding them in each centre which is now brand new and digital widescreen!

As for using a studio for the one show, all the kit would be up and running from the regional news so they'd just have to shove the guest on the set with earpiece and mic and cut the right camera up. you'd only need a couple of people stay behind to look after it
