Sorry, but for me, BBC One's Christmas idents of the past (certainly in the early 1990s) generally were far superior to anything we get these days. Particularly this year. And that's not through rose-tinted spectacles.

I gotta put up with seeing that beer gut i think not !!thank god for catch up tv!

And on that note the iPlayer is using a simple animation as seen in the trailers. It's more 2012/13 in style but looks and sounds far better IMO, but probably wouldn't work as an ident.

They might reflect what viewers are doing on the 25th but they don't reflect what's happening on the 4th.
