These idents showing 'real' people enjoying themselves at Christmas look very ITV to me.

I personally don't think they're dreadful, but I prefer e.g. the 2013 Christmas presentation.

They actually look perfect for ITV, I would agree!
Although the 2013 idents on BBC One were 'simple and sweet', the soundtrack was very catchy and Christmassy.
Sure, there have been far better, but also far worse.

Are they using the bauble ident more than any of the others? Every junction I catch seems to be the bauble, and that's for other programmes not just before the news.

Try the 6am junction before Breakfast..

Seen Bauble (twice), Christmas Pud, (twice) Christmas Jumper.. this week since Monday.

Which is what itv do very well, as with all of their idents the musical score is what makes them work well for me (as do the Christmas versions of the theme).

As for BBC One it's not the worst that I've seen and the images are Christmassy, I'm just surprised that there are only 4 of them (unless some are being held back) and 2 of them relate more to Christmas day traditions.

It's just another ident a logo on a real background, just so boring and unimaginative Sad

Winning Weekend endboards. This was recorded off TWO HD, but notice the awful aliasing around the BBC ONE logo and the script writing; the programme times and titles are fine. (The Forum squeezes the images to fit, so it's not as noticeable. Click the images to enlarge.)

That looks less like aliasing and more like a field-freeze of an interlaced signal (where one field has been repeated twice rather than two different fields being displayed). You commonly see it when a VTR or disc server is in pause or has hit the end of it's media. That suggests that the background for that graphic has been created by using a freeze frame or a grabbed freeze with a server in pause. Anyone who does graphics like this for a living should know that you need to grab freezes in play, not pause, to avoid this... And these days you should really be getting background in the file domain rather than grabbing from a baseband source - though this isn't always possible.

(Frame freezes judder with native interlaced content as the two fields are 1/50th second apart and thus you get a forward/back motion if you do a frame freeze, though there are some devices that will do an interpolated frame)

It was badly aliased as it was animating.

Larger images, and a comparison trailer: 1, 2, 3

I myself make ITV ident mocks for my 'AlexEdoh2013' YouTube channel.

The BBC1 idents are bland, that's the worst thing about them. It's like little patches of a John Lewis ad. And they just slap a logo on some film. It doesn't even zoom in so 'BBC one' is inside a circle. No. Just. No.

Just aired a golden bauble "Winning Weekend" ident! That was unexpected. Does this suggest that we may get "Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day" in the festive font on idents aired on those days?

But then it's the Strictly Come Dancing Final, Sports Personality of the Year 2016 and The Apprentice final this weekend? Might be for that.
