It just feels as though something is missing for me. Despite the 'plain and simple' idents in 2013, the soundtrack was very catchy and magical. A decent soundtrack added to this year's idents could make the world of difference.

That's one of the things that always come to mind when you think about Christmas of course: mince pies, mulled wine, bald heads

You don't have cracker hats in your house?

It's a quite common Christmas trope is it not? Grandad falling asleep after Christmas dinner?

Oh dear. I've had the 2010 theme running around my head for the last few days so it's a shame to see little/no soundtrack with these. They just don't have the quality of the last couple of years either. Very ITV (and that's no reflection on ITV - I get their cheap and cheerful reasoning). The bauble one is nice enough but as has already been pointed out, NI did it better in 2012.

Animation/endboard looks great though - I think this is the first time in years they've not done in the 'sparkles in a circle' animation on the trails.

I think it's quite nice, it's better than some i've seen in the past- but one things for certain is that it is very different for BBC One, almost like interim branding before something new comes into place next year!

I was joking. Although, baldness overpowers everything!

60fps is smooth. I like it. Can we digress?

No, because it's not smooth when you're recording something with a frame rate that it's not divisible by.

Recording at 50fps would stop the recording looking like a mess.

It's fine for video games - but 60fps for recording TV programmes causes motion judder. 50fps is far more suitable in that regard (correct me if I'm wrong).

Providing it's a PAL signal, then yes, you're correct.

No I should probably do it less, can see how it could come across as cynical. The idents aren't bad they're just not my cup of tea.

The bauble looks nice actually.

SO that is the new ident, so one has to wonder why Scotland went for this better ident to start off with?
