Notice the 2006-09 "Subtitles" tag being used.

On this, a capture from a nature documentary with a keyed form up on it!

I see they've forgotten their theme is circles again with a Planet Earth II special ident/programme clip with logo slapped on, as the Flamingos one.

It uses the falling "O" device again, but doesn't even have the minute imagination required to frame the head of the mountain-climbing ibex within it.

At least the swirl animation was unique, unusual and pleasant to watch unfold. This is just completely devoid of any magic or charm. Rubbish.

If only there was a vaguely circular image which could sum up Planet Earth.

They are using different clips from Planet Earth II as idents. I like them. It freshens it up!

So they still haven't replaced Chris Evans on Fridays. Wouldn't be surprised if Alex dropped Fridays on her return - shes one of the few on screen people in television who does a 5 day week. With new faces filling in for Alex though would make sense to establish a regular Friday co-host for the period as well.

The two versions of 'one' on that page don't match. It looks like the same font, but in bold for The One Show.

I'd never noticed that before.

They aren't idents. They are clips of a show with a logo slapped on top. They could do that for any show of they wanted.

Couldn't agree more. They're mediocre, and not really befitting of such a landmark series.

It's the same thing with some of the BBC1 Christmas idents of the recent past. I'd much rather they concentrated, and spent time on creating one single great ident than several average ones that will not be remembered past the airing of the series. All the money has been ploughed into the making of the series, no money left for any accompanying noteworthy ident(s).

Might as well have just reused this, which was at least clearly designed for use as an ident and adheres to the channel brand theme:

Interestingly, here's an article which investigates why the above was felt worth doing in 2012.
