Northern Ireland used the old 2015 version of the sting during the 11.30 junction.

Just as a point of interest, Points of View are doing a feature on the BBC One idents (and their birthday) after a young fan wrote in, not 100% if it's in tommrow or next weeks edition, but worth checking you if you get the chance.

I'd have thought they'd be more of a point of embarrassment than celebration. Still using SD idents in this day and age...
Custard56, Cavan and Larry the Loafer gave kudos

Quite a cute feature with a little boy wanting to know more about the ident stuff. Behind the scenes where the idents are played out plus some storyboards of idents that never got made (no real loss).

I genuinely thought it was going to be a complaint about how long the idents had been on air for. It was a nice touch from the POV team.

Looks like the segment on the circle idents aired today.

Explains about how the circle idents were made, specifically the hippos, which were made with CGI.

Also concepts for idents that didn't make it across the drawing board, and how playing out the idents works, in which the young boy who wrote in got a chance to play out the Dog Display ident, as well as get a wall frame of it.

Interesting to hear how it worked behind the scenes.

Is there an echo in here?

I was writing up the post not knowing you've beaten me to talking about the POV segment!

6 minutes in. I was hoping we'd get a slight hint of what the Christmas ident might be this year or a possible complete revamp, but alas not. The kid did mention about new ones, but the answer from the BBC Creative head seemed to get cut off/edited out.

The BBC seem quite proud they're 10 years old and have been played thousands and thousands of times, they're even older than the young contributor.

I wonder if anybody could upload the segment in question? I am abroad and unable to access iPlayer.

Permanent HD copy of the excerpt.

I love those draft animated hippos with the rigamortis legs, at 1:35. Hilarious!

That's great, thank you!

Good to see Scott Mills hosting there!

Cute kid, and interesting to see those unmade idents, and as mentioned the draft Hippos; clearly it would be odd to see this stuff coming out regularly but I do find it interesting that 10 years on, there's still 'new content' related to the identity that is still coming out. Smile
