Here the thing Ch4 had the same idents in use for 10 years remember? and no one cared about changing them at the time. So either Ch4 had very strong brand, or BBC one idents which we have are pretty dire in first place and should have never gotten on screen,

C4 refreshed the presentation around them though around midway through that run, plus their spin-off channels had consistently strong branding too. The idents also were not cut to shreds midway through their life cycle - they were given the time to breathe throughout their run.

I think ill have a toast to the last 10 years of spining around.. Hopefully ill get more pleasure out of my toast than those idents. Lets hope its all been a bad dream when i wake up and its 2006 and we still have ballons Very Happy

Maybe bring back the original full length playouts but perhaps with the trailer-style BBC One logo at the bottom that fades out before the swirls start. It would solve the problem of the branding being more visible and you get a cheap refresh. Plus bring back the 'rested' idents.

I don't see the point of having a smaller logo most of the way through to make the branding more clear, really. This isn't Channel 4. These idents have been used for a decade now so I don't think the viewers require a reminder of what channel they're watching.

I'd bring back the original idents, as they were, along with their old shorter edits, as they were, and edit the current short idents to have white swirls for consistency. Use the shorter idents for longer junctions or into the news and use the longer idents for junctions which require some padding or before major programmes for effect.

Do you think BBC One NI will reintroduce the Windows ident as well?

No. Windows was withdrawn because of the flashing lights in the ident.

Can't the BBC reinstate it but give a flashing images warning just beforehand? Smile

Wouldn't it weird with a warning beforehand? Anyway, I don't think it was withdrawn because of the flashing lights. Is there any proof about the flashing lights?

Wow, this is going on a bit. Just because they've reached 10 years on air. It shows how strong a brand and vision they are if anything. The important thing about BBC One is the programmes, not the 10 year old idents and around them.

As The Insider said, this was the reason why it was temporarily withdrawn the first time around.

So Moon in itself hasn't been retired, only for an obituary ident when, for example, a royal's passing occurs.

That was a nice surprise to see the hydro ident just now on BBC One Scotland. Someone given us a treat for its birthday. FYI hydro ident does appear every so often just not all the time and it can be weeks before it reappears.

I still think the current package of idents would be stronger if there had a few regional ones of circular locations like maybe Stirling castle, Cotswolds or if your really wanted it, Swindon magic Roundabout ha Very Happy

That Hydro ident could be back because of Still game. Its also strange seeing the English promo for Still game, Shocked

Couldn't they slow down the flashing lights?

It was never a very strong ident in my view. Probably easier to bin it.
Brekkie and Larry the Loafer gave kudos
