I don't see the problem, they're decent idents and the rest of the branding is fine. It has string recognition and also (rare these days) a strong familiar 3 note jingle
Just the fact it's 10 years old isn't reason in itself for replacement. Whats the point of throwing it all away for the sake of it? Especially as I'm sure some of those insistent it needs to change probably don't like what Channel 4 got rid of its 10 year old branding for. New doesn't necessarily mean better!
So what's wrong with updating the idents with some new circle themed ones?
I think the problem lies with seeing the same idents over and over again and they're getting stale. Some new additions would be a nice change but a complete overhaul would be lovely. Channel 4 are already starting to slip into the same problem by keeping with their initial four "idents" and not throwing in a new one after over a year, especially after they said something along the lines of there being a story to tell and there being more to it.

Here the thing Ch4 had the same idents in use for 10 years remember? and no one cared about changing them at the time. So either Ch4 had very strong brand, or BBC one idents which we have are pretty dire in first place and should have never gotten on screen,
If it was terrible and everyone hated it and it gave the channel a bad image... they'd have replaced it years ago.
It's just people here wanting something new to moan about
Perfect case of that was Rhythm and Movement. Unpopular amongst many as it did away with the globe motif and the accusations of PC in the idents were rife. The circles in comparison were a breath of fresh air.
Many have been complaining because the current set is starting to get stale at this point. Introducing new idents would be refreshing to see, or a complete overhaul of the branding.
Do you think BBC One NI will reintroduce the Windows ident as well?
No. Windows was withdrawn because of the flashing lights in the ident.
No it wasn't.
However, it was withdrawn about a week after it launched just in case the flashing lights might cause problems, but it was re-checked and reinstated days later.
It then remained on air for a good couple of years before it was "rested".

Fair enough. I've just checked the place where I was told about its withdrawal and I guess I forgot the 'IIRC'.
