I wonder if that was produced by new BBC Creative rather than Red Bee? Maybe a hint or nod to a possible update on the cards especially with the way the 'O' appears on screen. Probably wishful thinking though!

They've updated the BBC FOUR pres set with new idents this year, and there could be a possibility that BBC One could experience something similar though, as shown by the Strictly ident.

Clearly they've been slowly rolling out the 'O' animation through its presentation recently, in order to keep the circles fresh. The best thing the BBC could do at this point is introduce a few new circle idents with the 'O' motif to keep it fresh, without running the risk of a rebrand.

I suppose they could always re-edit the current set with the 'O' animation. Whilst I do prefer the swirl animation, this has been used for so long now and the 'O' animation would inject a welcome freshness to them.

I think the 'O' animation works really well for trailers, but I don't think it looks right on the ident. I know it could just be because we're used to the swirl, but I think the swirl suits the whole 'circle' theme better and draws it all in. Would be nice to see all the current idents with the new animation 'O' to compare.

BBC1 Wales showed Neon ident leading into Strictly just now, even though they used the new Strictly 2016 ident yesterday. How bizarre is that?

Also, BBC One's 80th anniversary is in November - I wonder if they'll be doing anything regarding this. Similar to BBC Two's 50th anniversary, I'd love to see them bring back some old idents to mark it, including the Balloon, Virtual Globe, COW and Rhythm & Movement.

Heard about BBC Four recreating BBC One's first day on air for the 80th anniversary, but would they celebrate it pres-wise, with old idents brought back on air, similar to BBC Two?

Of course BBC Television's first day on air consisted of just two hours of programmes. (It didn't become BBC-1 for 28 years). I Think MetalGearRex means that he thinks BBC Four might use old BBC Four idents; but if he means original idents from 1936, there were none. Presentation graphics didn't appear until the mid 50s.

They did have this. Only used at startup though. You're right, the first proper ident was 1953's Batwings.

I think I meant BBC One bringing back some of its old presentation over the years for its 80th anniversary.

Slightly unfortunate the Strictly and Ryder Cup trailers are using the same piece of music. Even more unfortunate they showed them right next to each other yesterday teatime.

I noticed that the breakfast trailer and one for the great north run ran back to back a few weeks ago both using 'Cake by the Ocean' as backing music.

When I spotted the strictly & Ryder incident yesterday I wondered if it was a new style of running trailers.
