A CA led forecast went out during the 1958 heads instead of the in-vision forecaster on BBC One HD. (England)

It's happened again tonight.

er, I saw Mr Shafanaker doing the weather in the 8 o clock bulletin tonight on BBC1 HD. I'm sure of it

That forecast always has London subtitles on it. As do the sports headlines during the news bulletins

Probably a side effect of the studio A gallery outputting one thing to HD and another to London simultaneously.

RDJ posted:
I think they should introduce a Floral Dance ident in tribute to Terry Wogan.

That would be a bit silly... given the Floral dance is a ritual in Cornwall rather than Wales if you're suggesting for it to be used on St. David's Day.

No, I'm suggesting it as a permanent tribute to Terry Wogan.

I think something like a Children in Need grant or a broadcasting award in his name would be more fitting.
Nicky, bilky asko and Larry the Loafer gave kudos

Possibly. My Mum suggested they should launch a campaign to get the Floral Dance to Number 1 around the time of Children In Need in aid of the charity; that would be good.

Or not. It's the one thing he probably wanted scrubbed out of his obituary.

Of all the things Terry achieved, the Floral Dance is not something a lot of people immediately associate him with. There would be far better ways of paying tribute to him.

But if it was for Children In Need, surely it would be a fitting tribute to Mr CiN?

It wasn't for Children In Need as I recall, and around Helston way, some people were not happy with his rendition, as they felt it badly reflected on their Flora Day celebration. I think attitudes have softened towards it over the years.

It wasn't, it predated CiN (as we know it) by a few years.

Not sure why the people of Helston would object, it is being positive about their big day rather than taking the p. Unless of course they're worried it would bring in too many emmets!

You misunderstand me. I mean if Terry Wogan's Floral Dance was part of a music campaign and all proceeds were donated to Children In Need, in order to celebrate Terry Wogan's charity work.

Terry played The Floral Dance regularly on his radio 2 breakfast show as a kind of in-joke between him and his listeners. He used to sing over the brass band version, which eventually charted in 1977 reaching No. 2, behind Mull of Kintyre by Wings. Terry released his vocal version and it did less well, but still climbing to No.21.

He wasn't ashamed of it at all as far as I know, in fact he performed it live in 2015 outside Broadcasting House during Dermot's Day of Dance for Comic Relief. Not sure why he'd want to scrub it out if his obituary... At the end of The One Show tribute it was played, again by the Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band, outside BH on the Piazza. And a lovely end to the programme it was too.
