I wonder if it will actually move on in time, rather than Heartbeat, which stayed in the 60s for 18 years- albeit a limbo that was a mish-mash of different bits of the 60s!

CTM has slowly moved from 1957 to 1960 in four series.

Yeah, the Christmas special is set at Christmas 1960. They're advancing in real time, unlike Heartbeat.

Although didn't Heartbeat advance in real time for it's first nine years then stay in 1969 for another nine years.

Whatever happened, didn't it have more Christmases in the show than there were Christmases in the 1960s?

It wasn't really 1969 anyway, as I said before it was some strange world where different things from different parts of the 60s were all happening at once. It would be like having something set in the 90s where Nelson Mandela was being released while Tony Blair is prime minister and the Oasis/Blur chart battle's taking place.

Did my eyes deceive me, or did I see a promo for the whole weekend as 'Winner's Weekend'.

It promoted the Strictly Final, Sports Personality and Apprentice Final.

First time BBC One have done a weekend promo for a fair few years? Looked quite nice too!

Not the first time either, Lord Sugar mentions in his current book that the BBC have promoted Strictly and The Apprentice finals as the Winner's Weekend.
