At one time didn't the same director/announcer cover junctions on both networks? Must have been a fairly trivial bit of finger trouble to go into circuit on the wrong network.
London Switching Centre managed something similar in the days when the distribution circuits were used for contributions during opt outs, managing to put a feed of a bored MP waiting to be interviewed onto bbc2 in the middle of Star Trek rather than the BBC 1 circuit where the regions were all doing their own thing.
It's so easy for routing to go wrong.
I remember a BBC 1 NI junction (from end sting of CBBC into Neighbours opening titles) being transmitted on BBC 2 NI in the middle of Weakest Link... while the network BBC 1 junction went out on BBC 1 NI instead.

Hehe Oops!
Yes, there was a time when the one playout suite (talking about analogue days, and no automaton) was regularly used for both 1 and 2 (but only if 2 had opt out programming). That could be very confusing... running local programmes on 2, while still covering junctions on 1.
The fault mentioned above though was simply a case of the wrong Opt button being pressed... So easily done.

So, next week Halloween. The following week Remembrance Sunday, then just three weeks after that until December. Has anyone wondered what our BBC1 Christmas presentation will be like this year? Also, when will first air? 5th December or 12th December? It's getting nearer to an exciting time for TV presentation!

Hopeful it will be a repeat of last years, nothing wrong with it. Promo should turn up on on 5th December

I would like to see a repeat of 2006's again. It remains one of my modern favourites. I'm sure they could come up with some Christmas style endboards - 2008's would suffice. They already have stings for the 2006 package.
