Maybe, but that's analogous to pouring Pepsi into a Coke Cola can, and suddenly calling the liquid Coke Cola ?

Nope. It's more like... well, it's more like taking AAC encoded audio and re-encoding it to AC3.

I'm not sure there's a workable carbonated beverage analogy for this. Sorry.

Oh, there is. It's like pouring lager into lemonade and calling it shandy.

I know for a fact I was watching in stereo, as enabling Dolby causes the sound to mute at inconvenient moments with the connected speaker system.

I'm always amazed at how excited posters get when there's a rare sound or picture glitch! Four pages of discussion about it! Can you imagine what it would be like if an old "Technical Issues" slide appeared? Who needs sex or a holiday when there's a blip during Strictly? Very Happy

I think it's because it's so rare nowadays, thanks to the improved technology of TV playout - programmes played out through servers or discs rather than tape or film. (Someone with much more knowledge than me will correct me on that, I'm sure!).

Better for the broadcasters and the viewers… not so much for those of us who look forward to such things!

Yet sometimes its get reported about bad gliths and no one cares, I remember the one from BBC Scotland from the Sunday politics etc,

And a glitch going into the News at Six on BBC One Scotland tonight meant the headlines were without sound and Reporting Scotland headlines missed completely. The problems started on the prior Who Do You Think You Are trailer.

BBC Newsline on BBC ONE NI appears to be in HD now, but the graphics and titles aren't. A strange mish-mash of the two.

If they haven't gone HD, then the picture quality looks a lot better than before, whatever they have done, but the aforementioned titles and graphics look off in comparison.

The sound went for a few minutes during Eastenders tonight and there wasn't even an apology after the credits.

The sound was perfectly fine throughout here (BBC One HD England).
