So, September 20th. Only a matter of weeks before indepth discuission of what this year's Christmas Ident will be like or whether this year will see a re-use of last years. How time flies!

Given the scrutiny the Beeb have been getting over the last few weeks, I won't be remotely surprised if we see some festive recycling in place.

Wouldn't any planning of a Christmas ident/package be underway by now though, if it hasn't been completed already?

I wasn't an overall fan of last years BBC ONE package, but it wouldn't surprise me if we saw it again this year.

There was a Doctor Who sting last night, after Pointless.

John Whittingdale roasting on an open fire would be rather apt.

Sophie Raworth and Michelle Ackerely are Anne Robinson's replacements on Watchdog. Matt Allwright and Chris Hollins are returning.

The two new female presenters have previously worked on Watchdog daytime spin-offs.

If the format stays roughly similar, you'd probably read that more as Sophie replaces Anne as lead presenter, and Michelle joins Matt and Chris as a reporter/presenter? Though no guarantee that the format will remain identical either.

A longer than usual menu just now promoting "Your Saturday Night" on BBC One with a rundown of the evening programmes. Not quite the Saturday night trails of old but a nice addition to the junction nonetheless.

More of an extension on the "Next" slides than a scaled down "coming up tonight" menu. Hardly the energetic "THAT'S YOUR SATURDAY NIGHT... ON BBC1" of the 90s.

What a strange way to do it, they've had to squash the text on the national lottery bit to fit it all on! It also leaves so much blank space on the right.

Yeah, there's a very good reason why England used a different layout. Scotland need to adopt the same style. Not going to be a problem next week though - In It to Win It has finished and the lottery will just be the draws after Casualty.
