Could that Channel of the Year sting be a bit bigger? Obviously not celebrating the award in a subtle way.

As expected a NEW sting for the Queens 60 years

63-and-a-bit years.

It's to celebrate her becoming the longest reigning monarch, not 60 years on the throne.

An edited version of the 2010 EastEnders ident just aired.

Edited to remove departed cast members I assume?

Indeed. It's a shame it's been significantly pruned but given that so many of the 2010 EastEnders cast who featured in that ident have since departed the show (Pat, Ricky, Peggy, Zainab, Syed etc.), I suppose it was inevitable it would be cut if it returned to air.

I notice that this new cropped version has a white swirl rather than the usual red swirl, that was seen on the 2010 original version.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to film a new 2015 version and broadcast it through 2015, from the 30th anniversary back in February onwards?

Despite the pruning you can quite clearly see Melissa Suffield as Lucy Beale, the character of which has not only been recast but also died (in rather a high profile fashion) since the ident was filmed, which is unfortunate but I guess the best they could do.

Budget reasons?

Probably. Oh well. A trimmed rehash of an ident is all we can hope for from the BBC now.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the BBC's idents package etc are to be refreshed in November (though I could be wrong)...the channels need a makeover now in my opinion.

Did I dream this?

A rebrand would not be the wisest decision just before Charter renewal. I think it must have been a dream.
