Apologies if this is covered earlier in the thread.

I watched the end of Pointless just now on BBC One, and an ECP of sorts appeared with the CA announcing that the news was next, mentioning a couple of headlines. This in itself I've rarely heard before.

Then after the ECP and the full screen returned, a much louder voice (possibly the same announcer) stated something like 'Richard Osman continues quizzing on BBC Two now'.

The change in volume was what I found most noticeable, almost as if the second announcement was pre-recorded or from a different source. Or was it just issues with the mic volume?

I watch very little live BBC One. Is this sort of thing normal?

The first voice you heard was that of Sophie Raworth doing a trail for the news, then the duty CA mentioned Richard's BBC Two show.

Was Sophie not in vision? On the iPlayer live restart it looks fine, although the sound levels aren't brilliantly balanced, but maybe there was a problem on HD?

She didn't seem to be in-vision on my SD feed, which is what totally confused me, although it's possible I wasn't paying enough attention.

Thanks Steve, that makes it much clearer now. It did seem unusual for a CA to trail the news in that way!

I'm assuming that the Planet Earth Live ident from 2012 has become a quasi-regular ident as it was just used into Earth's Natural Wonders: Living on the Edge on BBC ONE Network and Scotland. Wales and NI settled for Hippos.

They also used that a while ago to introduce the repeat of David Attenborough's interview with Barack Obama following the Wimbledon men's singles final.

It was only network, that time.

Has it been pointed out that The Great British Bake-off yesterday did not feature an actual ident but a shot in the Bake-off tent of a timer ticking down with the BBC One logo in the centre.

BBC One London crashed into a network trailer just before 7pm with a local ident that used Gill Sans for the 'London' text. How? Why? They presumably have the correctly branded ident into news bulletins?

Hardly a shocking occurence, NE & Cumbria are also sometimes guilty of opting for a 'Gill Sans' branded ident.

Or sometimes just not bothering with a logo at all.

Ooh, ooh, ooh, I know this having just moved to London. They don't use regional idents into news bulletins.
