Nothing really remarkable about those new look Lottery graphics. It would have made more sense to launch them next Saturday with Nick Knowles' new family reunion quiz Lottery show rather than tonight's last "Who Dares Win", but I suppose it's Camelot's choice in the end.

Yeah, the bits that aren't Gotham are Futura, which gives it a dated look I think - Futura is associated with the BBC in the 1970s, used for BBC1's 1975 ident and Doctor Who's 1970s credits and episode title cards, and wasn't the font used in 1991-7 on BBC 1 and 2 similar too?

It's not just similar, it was in fact Futura. To be honest, it's not that dated to me, it's still effective.

It's not just a BBC thing it's more of a National Lottery thing. Seems to be having a new look. Seen promos in the shops and looks like online will update soon. http://blog.national-lottery.co.uk/makeover/#.Vatg1GK9KK2

So I don't think it's all down to the BBC this time.

Its not exactly horrible, IMO. Its just less glitzy, the design trend is to be simple and flatter nowadays.
