I guess the BBC think it's still relevant enough after the Comic Relief sketch, even though the more modern material is a shadow of its former self.

Has BBC one now finished with the 2015 new package of Menus and stings?

When is Have I Got News for You actually recorded? I'd always assumed that it was recorded in the evening near the date of transmission, but the past few weeks have confused that theory somewhat!

On the show after the election they were interrupted by the floor manager who had breaking news like Farage/Clegg/Miliband's resignation, which means it was recorded Friday daytime. Likewise, Friday's episode had the floor manager interrupt to announce that Chukka Umuna had withdraw his leadership bid, so it must have been filmed earlier on in the day, giving it a relatively tight turnaround I'd have thought. Then, when the debates were taking place on Thursday nights there was always a clip from the debate in question that was relevant to what they were talking about, but the general discussion around the debates made it sound like they were happening/yet to happen, suggesting they recorded these episodes on Thursday nights when the debate was taking place.

In terms of the Friday episodes, wouldn't it make it more difficult to attract an audience as most people will be at work?

It is USUALLY filmed on a Thursday evening. However the election special was filmed on Friday AM for obvious reasons. No idea why this continued into this week, unless it was an attempt to make it as relevant and up-to-date as possible.

With regards to people being in work, HIGNFY tickets are very well sought after and as such audiences aren't just pulled in off the street like some other shows. A colleague in work recently won 4 tickets and was allocated a particular recording with date, time and location confirmed well in advance, approximately 6 weeks or so. As such, it's conceivable that these dates were prearranged deliberately, and thus only persons who could attend did.

Another factor to consider is that in London a lot of people are on flexi-contracts so are able to arrange late starts / early finishes on Casual Friday if they've accumulated enough hours earlier in the week. Certainly would explain the patronage levels of city-centre bars at 12pm on a Friday...

It's normally recorded on the Thursday evening. Last week, as with previous General Elections it was recorded on the Friday morning

This week's was recorded on Friday morning too because of the strike at ITV on the Thursday (it is recorded at The London Studios)

They were recorded on the Thursday evenings as usual, they had a feed of the debates available to include some in the programme. Presumably that means that the first time those in the studio had seen the debate footage was when it was shown to them during the studio recording.

The election one was planned in advance, I'm not sure how much notice they'd have had for last week's but it wouldn't have been too difficult to find people for the audience. Hattrick/their audience company will have a large list of potential audience members - those that have been in past audiences or have applied unsuccessfully. They also have a system of priority tickets for those that just miss out on getting in on the night (they over subscribe the ticket allocation)

No, still in use this morning.

But they do seem to have dried up somewhat now. It's a shame, we could have had something like this...

Or not.

And a link to an interesting read on the production here:

No mention of my favourite low-tech bit, though - the permanently smeared back window to avoid continuity problems. Or that's what I thought, but apparently it's more to hide the permanently following support vehicle (that was in the Twitter feed above).

The State opening of Parliament takes over BBC1 from 10:30am on Wednesday. BBC1's usual fare moves to BBC2.

What is unusual is that Homes under the Hammer is on BBC1 from 10:00 to 10:30 and BBC2 from 10:30 to 11:00. A bit strange, How is that going to work?
