This whole Watchdog at 30 thing, and the piece on The One Show, seems to be forgetting that it actually started in 1980, as a segment on Nationwide.

Particularly surprising as The One Show is regarded as the modern successor to Nationwide.

Thank you BBC One NI for a full Helicopter ident leading in to the Election 2015 programme this evening. However, it's a bit of a dodgy edit showing the parcel delivery from the helicopter, then in the next shot shows the helicopter flying to the lighthouse.

It also enabled BBC One to pad out the schedule nicely with Watchdog at 30 and Shark before the GE coverage started.

I think that they're celebrating it now as the new series starts next week.

It's very much like how they did 20 Years Of The Two Ronnies in 1986 - and then 21 and 22 Years - to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of their first appearances on The Frost Report, and then did 25 Years Of The Two Ronnies in 1996, in that case commemorating the 25th anniversary of The Two Ronnies itself. Of course, like this Watchdog thing, the point was just to find a suitable excuse to do a clip show.
The biggest issue about the Watchdog thing is that someone seriously said "This show would probably get a few more viewers if it was a bit like Gogglebox".
But Ironically they celebrated the 25th anniversary ten years ago, due to regarding the aforementioned Nationwide strand as the beginning for the programme.

They added nothing to the show. Even if they had something interesting to say, such as a personal story or recollection of being on the show, I wouldn't have minded as much. But it was just "Oh! I remember that!" or "Oh look it's so-and-so!".

Yes, because that's what they think Gogglebox is like and why it's so popular.

I have to agree with the above opinions. The contributions from the "viewers" were pointless and beyond unnecessary. I can't see what sort of logic was seen by whoever was in charge. It spoiled what was otherwise a very good documentary.
