It looks like a soiled panty liner.

Part of me thinks that these idents were originally created on the cheap for Christmas - some of them are a bit festive! But then they found a fiver down the sofa and went to the pound Shop to buy something better!

Or perhaps these were the Christmas idents but once made, they realised they looked very cheap and rushed to do the tree ones which look more expensive and are showing these to get their money's worth?!

Hmm, it sounds like the sort of thing the BBC would do. Certainly seemed like an odd move that they were showing pine tree needles being vacuumed up... in January!
So yes, you two could well be right.

That being said, the "Cup" ident is very January - winter holidays, New Year sales, a boiler (put the heating on!), and the hot chocolate.

They've had a special January set for the last three years now.

One of them has a purse with "sale" written on it, these weren't made for Christmas. Only the team running BBC2 could pull off a mishap caper like that and even they get Christmas right.

Yet to be seen up North,

I have to ask why now, why has the sting now returned to the BBC Fold? apart from the fact its given them more promotion on programmes.

Stings were used during the Love 2013/Love 2014 periods too.

I don't actually remember them. Unless I thought there were just start of a promo.

Why is that odd? It's something I did the other day after we took the decorations down in time for 12th night

I wasn't aware anyone still had their trees up through New Year nowadays - I took my decorations down on the 30th. Each to their own I suppose.

623058 , I'm not really sure why but it's nice to see them again. The last regular set shown on One was the balloons, wasn't it?
