I've still got mine somewhere - it's quite a nice souvenir in a way!

After years of not having anywhere to put it I've finally hung mine on the wall above my telly. It's quite nice because it's a neutral picture that doesn't scream 'BBC'

Finally of course there was the Milennium Dome Baloon BBC 1 Symbol.

My personal favourite balloon ident - great visuals and great tune which took me 8 months to capture for TV Home! I saw it twice while watching abroad and it took a cheeky request on MHP for a certain announcer and director to play it into N24 one night (and a further very cheeky request the following day for an extended showing after telling them off for only playing 6secs of it!) Sadly it was in the days of me only having analogue TV and recording it on a mono VCR in long play, hence the quality is pretty rough. Those were the days...

My favourite was the underwater one they did for blue planet.

Looking at The TV Room there were loads of idents only made for two weeks and then binned.

Only ITV keep this tradition up now it seems.

Does 2000 Today still hold the record for the longest continuous programme (or perhaps more accurately, continuous feed - I assume the international output was minus all BBC TC1 links..) which also involved the largest number of broadcasters (50+ ?)

Such a shame it seems like there's sod all chance of anything like it ever happening again....

I loved how mad Broadcasters went for the year 2000, it's a shame that things don't happen like that now. The only thing that you only seem to get on New Years Eve now is a quick thing on BBC One, and a recorded Hootenany on BBC Two. ITV1 have the news and others dont even bother.

I'm actually watching a Video of Channel 4 from New Years Eve 1999 with fy2k: graham norton live followed by the Biggest Breakfast Ever through the night. Its a shame that They don't do things like anymore either.

Another thing that's noticeable when you look back at all the screenshots is just how beautifully designed all the astons were (they animated as well I seem to remember) - and what do we have now on most channels? Just lots of gaudy / garish rectangles.

This has to be my favourite TV Coverage. Lovely set, lovely music , used cleverly... music and titles match...

Shame the titles mess up on that clip. There used to be a better clip on 2000Today.

The one just after midnight or 1am? ISTR it having an even more over-the-top crane shot through the studio before the start of it, which looked fantastic.

I was in Canada for New Year that year, and CBC's 2000 Today coverage was notable for being fronted by someone who was like a clone of Peter Snow, but Canadianised - Peter Mansbridge
