BBC Radio Leeds is live from Leeds today, and as Katherine has already said, she managed to end up playing Beat the Intro.

-------

Who was that man with the dog who practically attacked Christa?

Was the beannoraked Lincolnshire man, who played Pontoon, with you Katherine??

more later!

You were there? You saw my moment? Did you like my 'Sound of Silence' joke? Excellent! And no, the anoraked man was not with me! Even I can't believe my bloody luck sometimes! I meet Christa and Peter for the first time, Paul for a third time, do banter with Peter and Paul and then a couple of hours after Peter Levy goes off air, I strike lucky again!

I went into a card shop to get a Thank You card to deliver myself to BBC Leeds in Woodhouse Lane, and would you believe it, I got lucky there too - meeting Harry Gration and Ian White in reception within seconds of each other! 5 Look North presenters in one day - I am simply overwhelmed!

I'm sure the thank-you card will be appreciated too. It may be 'just a job', but the perks must surely include bringing a smile to the viewers and listeners faces.

Everyone enjoys hearing that they've spread a little happiness.

May I suggest a Year in Review for your good self Katherine? In slide show format, of course.

I trust 2002 brings you as many happy days.

You've managed to get home then? Bearing in mind

Travel News, beep beep de de didi de, BBC Radio Leeds
And on to the trains and there are delays on Arriva Trains Northern between Leeds and Doncaster, due to a fatality on the line in South Elmsall
I'm Kevin West, BBC Radio Leeds Timesaver Travel

Yes I was there, You wern't carted off to High Royds then?
Did you stay for the dull Call Kelner after 1?
I was the only person in the audience under 60 by the way!

So basically, All Radio Leeds programmes came from a stage in Leeds City Centre today, the set up was a couple of microphones and a basic clock!
No wonder, Martin Kelner finished his programme at 1:58, and had to fill, as they wern't ready to go to the Travel News yet.

The 'off-air' sound of Radio Leeds was poor for those in Leeds City Centre, as when Peter handed over to the news headlines etc, those back in the indoor studios couldn't properly be heard by the audience.

Also callers couldn't be heard, which means the 'Call Kelner Flagship Phone In' was a bit of a disaster!

Also, because of these sound problems, the 'top of the hour' was very dull for those in Leeds

10.57 Peter introduces the 'Whats happening Guide', which could faintly be heard
10.58 A look at the weather, here's Lisa Gallagher
10.59 BBC Radio Leeds Timesaver Travel, Jingle faint, presenter could partly be heard
11.00 Jingle, BBC Radio Leeds Headline News with Clive Settle, semi-audible
11.04 Back with Peter (after 7 minutes of hardly anything!)

We got to see what happens 'behind-the-scenes' as at 10.28, Peter handed over to the travel, he then got quite worked up, as he was asking who was reading the news, who's reading the news???

But then by 10.30, back on air, the calm peter says 'And its BBC Radio Leeds the headlines now come from Clive Settle Good Morning Clive' as if nothing had happened!

Christa Ackroyd in her designer gear, and Very Small Paul looking about 23 appeared.
Plus Radio Leeds' Liz Rhodes, Martin Kelner, Andrew Edwards, Mike Craig, (Liz Green was there before 10am), and also Ashley Peatfield

They all have personalized Radio Leeds Coats with their names on!

The over 60's were rouring with laughter at Peter's interview of Christa and Paul's slot, along with his other guests.
One women said, pointing at Peter 'Who's he, what do they call him' Sad
Another said 'Look theres Christa Ackroyd there, who did she take over from? 3rd Women 'Christine Talbot', 'No who used to be with Harry Gration...'
And when Paul appeared at the side 'Hey look Paul's here' getting excited!

How did Peter manage to sneak off at 12.30, and be back to normal by the 1 at 1.00!

As I said earlier, there wasn't much of a crowd for the other presenters!

What a frenetic six months it's been on the regional telly front!

July - meeting with Harry and Paul in Skegness, and Peter Levy reads my e-mail out on the lunchtime show.

August - I go snakey when Christa is revealed at Scarborough, and wow the forum with the first two slide Shows.

September - Christa joins Look North, and I find she;s not that bad at all, I even like her. Plus, Peter Levy reads my Hitch Hiker's Guide to Look North out on air. Third Slide Show produced.

October - Sub-opt begins, I go from the agony of thinking I've lost Peter/Paul/Harry/Christa/Ian as Look North reveals intention to split Belmont and Emley up into different regions. A week later, I get told that Look North (Leeds) is available on Sky Digital as from January 2002. I am immediately revived.

November - I meet Paul Hudson for the second time, and Lisa Gallagher for the firdst time.

December - Everything happens at once! I meet Harry, Christa, Peter, Paul and Ian all in one day, I engage in my own banter with Peter and Paul as I play Beat the Intro on BBC Radio Leeds, live from the Briggate!

What on Earth is 2002 gonna throw at me? Perhaps a meeting with Clare Frisby and Helen Philpot, plus a tour of the studios? I'm not done yet!

Oh, I've just remembered, there was a very funny exchange during today's Live Peter Levy Show.

Ashley Peatfield (doing the TV Preview) - and tonight on ITV at 9 O'clock, 'The Farmer Wants a Wife', no wonder ITV is going down the pan, if they allocate an hour of prime time to this!

Peter Levy - (laughs) So thats your contraversial statement of the day then

Ashley - The're going to make a sequel you know, 'The Presenter Wants a Wife', I know you've been looking for a long time Peter!http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Interesting comment from the BeAnnoraked man (who looked like Roy Cropper's [from corrie] brother by the way, and made Peter look like the face of 2001 - Sorry BeAnnoraked man if you are a member of TV Forum)

Peter - Whats wrong with Radio Lincolnshire

BeAnnoraked Man - They tend to think they are part of the Midlands, I like to feel Northern

So Katherine you think the same then?

By the way, Paul was back on Briggate for his forecast at 6.50 this evening, By the looks of it, La Boheme was getting less attention than Peter Levy's mid-morning show!

South Lincolnshire's regionally confused. It's odd that the Belmont/Waltham catchment area border is so vast. I know of people in Skegness who can get Cental and East Midlands Today, yet some of us here can't get EMT at all.

Economically, we're officially recognised as being in the East Midlands, rather than the north. We get our electricity from the East Midlands Electricity Board BUT Boston and South Lincolnshire gets its water supply from Anglian Water! Yet, most households in Boston get Look North!

This is a place that's very schizophrenic!

Paul - I wonder who will ring up today, after 'Stalker' Katherine yesterday
Peter - (laughs)
Paul - She was mad wasn't she!

The caller was going to record the afternoon Look North later on

Peter - I think they've all escaped, after yesterday!
