Here's BBC LDN's rather modernistic-looking Christmas Tree! (It's the white thing which looks like Crystal Palace in the background!!)

What are your local newsrooms doing?

The Look North soft set looks like an overspill from the Leeds Santa's Grotto!

Calendar haven't done anything yet, and I think, they might not bother, as you can't really fit a tree behind a desk easily

Midlands Today have now joined in with the Christmas celebrations and there tree is now up. There was even a special feature at the end to how they put it up - it was put up by Rentokil.

Is it me or is that desk different to the other ones? I mean, it's not oval is it?

Oh, white christmas trees are so bad looking and tacky! I'd have thought BBC LDN's first christmas would be better than this.

The possibility of the tree being such a bright white is:

1. A light shining on the tree.
2. The tree is just just plain white.
3. It's not a tree - just a tangled bunch of white lights that don't 'twinkle'.

Must be one of these... Smile

The desk has been different for a while now, no idea why they changed it though.

As for the dodgy camerawork Mark, it was probably Nick Owen having a mess about - and most Midlands Today must be drunk in the first place to want to work there. Smile

London trying to be trendy again. A nice traditional green Norwegian spruce would have looked a hell of a lot better than that plastic white pointy thing.

See, I wasn't imagining it - the Midlands Today studio does have a _huge_ area of set which is _never_ used!!!!! Why the hell not? A few weeks ago, before the Christmas tree was there, I mentioned that you could see another huge alcove behind the sports presenter but nobody belived me!

Any ideas why it exists?

Cheers,
Peter.
