I was wondering, about the news studio N6. Well a question i want to know is,

There are two screens behind the presenter, one a mirror of the other but I want to know what exactly is it, a projecor, (rear projection) a big plasma screen , what. I have no idea can anyone help me with this?

AFAIK it's one of those blue screens... is it called 'Chromakey'? I think so.

That's actually a very good question, as I've never thought of it before! I was just told that it was a 'live' camera shot, but delayed when on air.

It is two back projected screens.

As said earlier, they are mirror images of each other but delayed so it doesn't look obvious.

Its certainly not chromakey. You'd be able to see a slight bit of interference between the image and the presenter.

Yes, as James points out it is too projected screens. The projectors for the screens are huge and take up a lot of the N6 studio! One of them is 'live' (not quite, but near enough) and the other is on, I think, a 5 minute delay of the other and flipped. As far as I can remember the right hand screen is the actual one and the left hand one (the one you mostly see behind presenter with sidebar) is the mirrored one.

You can see that they are not chromakey in my pictures from inside N6. Loads of you have seen them before - but here are two of them again for new members...

I believe there are three - there are the two behind the presenter and the one where the interviews are conducted. all are done with a standard projector - look in the staples catalogue - you can hook it up to the pc and project images and videos and stuff. but the ones in the studio are much more powerful and more expensive - they have to be brighter than the halogen and studio lights that are above the screens.

Yes, they are very powerful and take about 5 minutes to warm up after being switched on by remote controls!

There is also a widescreen plasma screen (as per breakfast and news24) for conducting interviews on by the Sports presenter if needed to go on the right hand side of the studio. It can be wheeled in when needed!

I dunno if anyone knows this but the old blue BBC News studio was used for every BBC News programme broadcasted. All they did was change the panels along that curved wall for each News programme.

Yes, i thought that was a very nice touch - the different toned world motifs tied in nicely with the tone of the title theme - bright and airy for one o'clock .... through to dark and serious for ten o'clock (and with Peter Sissons - he scares me - he's always very serious looking - a bit like a headmaster figure!)
