Yes, I noticed that it is physically really!

Personlly, I think it looks awful as well! I hope it goes soon, it better not be a permanant fixture, please BBC News would never be that tacky, would they? Razz:

Will they be brave enough to admit they've cocked up though?!?!?  Hope so...this looks *so* stupid.

Also noticed during tonight's sports segment within the News At Six...our cutting edge red panel didn't show up behind the inset graphic alongside the sports presenter.  In *reality*, I really don't think this is possible!

I love plasma screens. Some channels here in Holland use also plasma screens (since the begin of the year) , and it's in my opinion much better than a sidebar.

Plasma screen

I like the plasma abaove as it merges into the set whereas on breakfast and especially on Reporting Scotland they more look like a temp screen, plasmas are great as long as they suit the setting.

Well, the red stripe is quite high up and the presenter is not likely to be more than 180cm tall (6 feet) when standing . So for the camera looking at the seated sports presenter, that red strip is probably beyond the top of the shot (but perhaps only just).

EDIT: Actually, having taken another look at the screen grab (I've not actually seen BBC News for myself since the change), the red stripe isn't all that high up - it's only just above the railings. This destroys my above theory, so now I'm just as dumbfounded as you, Mike!!!
