It is much much smaller than it looks on the TV thanks to wide angle lenses!

the set looks really nice from that angle, it should be used at the opening and closing titles!

That camera makes it looks quite large but it isn't at all! It's amazingly small and cosy - there wasn't much of a gap between my head and the top of the studio when I was there.
Yes it was the same when I was in the News 24 studio. It is incredibly smaller than what it looks when they do the full wide angle shot at the start of the overnight bulletins.

It's a really teeny set - the distance from the table to the back wall is much much less than you think!! When you stand up you're almost level with the top of the set.

This is probably the stupid question -- but why are the studios so small?
Slightly off-topic, but I think that the national news should have a reminder of the headlines in the middle of the bulltin. That way we can have a nice tag!!

Yes, but the nationals are only a 'roundup' of the day's main news - there is no need for a headlines reminder. You can watch N24, Sky News, CNN or whatever for that!!
I supose it does come down to money. The 1993 studio was mostly computer work, and not actually there - as if anyone could build a desk that big anyway. It's just cheaper to build either a fake studio or a smaller studio.
CNN's studios in Atlanta - the domestic network that is - aren't all that big. They look massive on the TV but there's a lot of clever technology employed there and it isn't as huge as you might think. It's still massive, much bigger than anything we've got over here. But it's certainly not as big as it looks on a TV screen.

I bet it's kind of a let down when you visit these massive looking sets, and they turn out not to be so large after all…
MSNBC looks huge, but if you look at some pics -- the main circular news desk practically takes up half the room -- I wonder if they give tours there?……
