I don't think that's 'the' Nick - for a start he has a doctorate!
'Our' Nick (not Sub Zero) is probably a 9 year-old in a box somewhere in Hampshire with nothing to do but irritate ppl. Sad is the word.

Does the BBC own those studios now?  Top of the Pops was there for a while before they moved back to TVC, and Chris Moyle's UK Play show was made there; but then wasn't Channel 4's TFI Friday made there as well?

No Teddington Studios are owned by the Barnes Media Trust.

Alistair McGowan is not a BBC production though - it is made for the BBC by VERA Productions, who are free to use any studio facilities they desire.

Top of the Pops wasn't made at Teddington, it was made by BBC OBs at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith. The Riverside studios used to be owned by the BBC (I think whilst they were waiting for all of TV Centres studios to be finished) but now are not fully equipped - hence an Outside Broadcast truck drives up to provide the TV facilities when they are used now. (TFI Friday was made in the same studios, and also had facilities provided by BBC OBs - even though the show was made for Channel 4... Even the BBC facilities are available on the open market now... They do the Grand Prix coverage for ITV - covering the British Grand Prix in the UK and the presentation for ITV in Europe)

I seriously doubt that this guy works at the BBC, (could any of our BBC nice guys confirm this?) and is probably just some idiot having trying to have fun.
Maybe claiming we changed the bar was a bit OTT (although possible) we know how much the beeb listens to us, and it isn't much.
Anyway the studo is good, not entirely certain about the sidebar but it is a big improvement.

Hi chaps

The reason that more or less of the flags glass is seen is that different presenters like the main camera at different heights and different tilt angles. Some presenters like it really low, so it is tilted up and shows the top bit of the newsroom backing behind the presenters, others like the camera quite high (or are taller) and prefer the camera tilted down, so you see less flags and more newsroom. The backing fed to the newsroom projectors behind the presenter has not changed.

Well done Asa.

I do think it was a bit unfair for Asa to ban Nick. In the past I have disagreed very strongly with certain people here, and that has led to me being banned for a short time.

If debate isn't allowed to continue, then I do think that amounts to censorship of peoples thoughts and opinions, which of course is everyones democratic right - and this right should be allowed to continue on this forum, within reason.

I'm not condoning the comments made by anyone in the topic, but I do think Asa was a bit hasty and unfair in banning certain members just because the argument got a bit heated.

Yes, you have. But that's great - the point of a forum but I just think that as this is a specific forum, for people to come on here and just ridicule us is out of order. This has to be against the rules of the forum, hasn't it?

Well, agree with you in part but as they joined purposly
(sp?) to mock us, he had the right.

Agreed - the only reason he registered with the forum was to cause a pointless argument ... so there's no point in keeping him here.

Anyway back to the Thread topic:
I think it's a very good sidebar now because the original (fade) inset didn't match the colour of the walls properly, plus there was the awful white line along the edge followed by limbo when you view it in 14:9 upwards. The 'ladder' was just god-awful and hopefully will never be seen again. The latest one suits the new metalic-22nd-century-operating-theatre look of the studio very well, and I like the way |B|B|C| NEWS has its own area in it. All in all a vast improvement!

I ain't seen N24 today - some art students are currently occupying the tv room so I can't switch over from that to N24 without being sworn at by some peirced hippies Sad

What new changes are there? I hope its nothing trivial like new chairs for the presenters! Smile
