Not sure, I quite like the idea of a sidebar... would look a bit empty maybe without one.

I think the camera angle they used on the Ten tonight is really good...

Sorry I can't capture any screen grabs personally because I don't have a capture card - but it was quite similar to the other wide shot they use - was just a slightly different angle and a head on view of the desk...

Whats your connection speed Alek? BBCi News has the Real Video stream. Even at 56K you would catch a glimpse.

I have a cable modem, and I often watch the Real Video stream, but the quality still is pretty iffy - thanks though:) I wish C-SPAN would broadcast the 10 O'Clock News. For God's sake BBC Parliaments broadcasts three-hours of C-SPAN a day or something. (Incidentally, BBC Parliament have a 'new' website)

Yes I saw the BBC Parliament website - well, webpage anyway. And I think C-SPAN is only shown for 3 hours on a Sunday.

Do you think that the sidebar would look better if it had a sort of animation where it is 'built' if you know what i mean or IYKWIM as i shalt now say.

Then it would show that it was virtual, even though people know it isn't real their brains do not, if that makes any sense

Then the wide shot would look better.

NO!

Sorry but why does everything need to be animated?

Thats what I like about BBC News, it tells me news in a friendly way with no fancy presentation, they focus on the story not how their video wall looks!

Sky News is obsessed with animation! if theres not a woshss! for Breaking News, thers a woshss! for having a live report. Sky if your reading STOP THE WOSHING! PLEASE! I will stop talking about Sky News now before i go off on one. This time last year Sky News was the business but now all I can say is 'Oh my God what a state!'

My opinions:

Change the studio back to the way it was
Change that sidebar
Change the theme music
Change everything!

Jsut thought Id bring back the Alistar McGowan discussuion again. The Queeen Vic set used by Alistar is different to the real Queen Vic set. For a start its much smaller, and there are many differences. Maybe someone could get a cap of Alistairs Queen Vic and the real Queen vic and we can compare.

Just read an article on studios - apaprently Alistair McGowan's last series of the Big Impression was shot at Teddington Studios (which used to be owned by Thames TV)

These are on the river - I wonder if the riverside exterior locations used for the Jennie Bond fake interviews are close by!

Does the BBC own those studios now? Top of the Pops was there for a while before they moved back to TVC, and Chris Moyle's UK Play show was made there; but then wasn't Channel 4's TFI Friday made there as well?
