What's wrong with you! The sidebar/window/inset is great! However, it would have been much better if it were a real plasma screen.

I am quite mystified by the re-appearance of BBC NEWS 24 flags. Considering the flags device transferred from BBC NEWS to BBC WORLD SERVICE ages ago, it seems rather weird...

And as for the china red - I think there is a danger of over-doing the red. It is quite a powerful colour. Especially on the news, it could be too overpowering. It's OK at the moment though.

Astons. Why not go for a LDN-stylee? Red backing with cream text. Would have looked nice. Purple does look a bit out of place, especially now.

But I ain't complaining. I think I'm the only one who LOVES the new sidebar. Well done Auntie!

Hmm... no.

The studio is nice on the whole but there are a few problems.

Firstly, the desk should've stayed, one person sitting at that desk looks odd.

Secondly, the sidebar is horrible. Very tacky and very cheap-looking. It dwarfs the presenter and makes the shot look really cramped.

That's about all I can think to compain about. On the whole it looks a lot better than the old one, less beige and generally more interesting.

So, what's next? We've seen World change, then the national news studio, then (this is pure speculation, obviously;)) News 24?

Watch this space...

Bail, without offending you, I don't think the mock is better than the new - it is overpowering. If the plasma screen effect is overpowering, that certainly is.

As for the new sidebar, may I just quickly point out I haven't seen it on television yet.

From the screenshots, I like it. It's different. I think the sticking point is the border. As it is computer generated, it depends on how realistic those metallic bars around the edge are. If I see them tonight and they look terrible, I'll change my view. At the moment from what I see, they look OK. I like the effect of a plasma screen at the presenter's side - but it would have looked much better if it were real.

It's just a matter of opinion - I love it. Everyone else seems to hate it. Please don't hurt me! Wink

To add my two cents I like the new studio on a whole. I wish they kept the old desk though. The circular studio with an oval desk just doesn't really work. The inset is pretty offensive - but I don't have to see it three times a day!

The News Centre looks great. BBC News 24 must be getting a revamp soon, everything else is for God's sake! It would be a very smart idea for them to broadcast from the News Centre somehow - but I don't know anything about the logistics of that.

Good job BBC. You are the gods of TV news presentation!

Yeah I agree considerring the great job they made of that virtual studio apart from the sidebar though it might grow on me, it just goes to show what a good job the BBC have done considerring other channels like ITV or dare i say it Sky News, here hoping they do something equally as good to BBC News 24 in the near future

Overall well done to the beeb for an execellent weekend

Yes I agree they are a bit too big but my last one I think is perfect, not to big, not to overpowering and it's sporting the new look bbc type logo
