The new sidebar does look pretty hideous, doesn;t it?

Simply taking a capture from the titles and bunging acrappy gomputer-generated frame does NOT look in any way better...

Sidebar????
Do you mean the inset???

It certainly looks better in widescreen than it did before; the old sidebar looked dreadful in 16:9.

Ruined....by that god-awful sidebar. What is that tacky border around the picture?!

Great set - terrible new graphics.

Cheers, Asa

I like the sidebar! The whole studio has a 'mechano' look about it, and i love it! big screen looks fantastic, and the red bit behind looks very nice, and homely. It reminds of the Jerry Springer set!

Here's another shot.http://www.tvhome.f2s.com/upload/n6.jpg

I think it's a big improvement for BBC News. I like it.

Only the sidebar....

Ok, ok the set it great a lovely mini re-vamp!

BUT!!!

That side bar is sooooo bad! It looks like they are trying to create a mini plasma thing like on the BBC News Washington set if you know what I mean. The frame is so cheap and tacky.

No new titles - a real shame!
No new music!

No camera moves!

AND can any spot the old News 24 flags era above Sissions head!

You would have thought they would have got rid of it by now, you can even see some old flags through the glass!

Need a bit of work me thinks!

Yeah, an unbelievably tacky 80s border around it that looks blatantly computer generated. I'm not against the bigger picture (although did prefer the old one), it's just the border.

Got to admit, I rather like it! Wasn't too sure about the sidebar, but I think it will grow on me. It did look ver tacky at first glance, but of course, it's meant to look like a real metal 'frame', and imitating metal is something that CGI graphics have never been particularly good at. I didn't notice anything different about the titles though. Perhaps I wasn't looking hard enough??

Is Peter meditating in the above shot?

I hate the sidebar it looks awfull, the old one was much better and looked more proffesional, the new one looks like something out of the Mocks section of the forum and even at that people in this forum have desgined better.

It's an inset not a sidebar
Or call it a window if you want to be ITN about it
