There is a joint BBC News 24/BBC World News Special at 3.30 this afternoon (Fri) on the 2008 Olympic bid.
I don'tr know but for those of you who care they may have special titles, again I don't know but I would imagine that it will come from the Sport Today set in BBC World.
Watch out!

I'm suprised that the BBC is bothering to cover where the Olympics are to be held in 7 years time!

And if China is chosen to host the event then it would be a worldwide discrace for the atheletes and the international community - this evil country does not deserve to host such a prestigeos event, let the Ozzy's host it again, they know how to have a party! Wink

I suspect that the BBC is covering the draw because it is a Public Broadcaster. There are millions of people around the world, and I'm sure in this country as well, that are interested to hear first hand where the games will be staged.

And why not China? You may disagree with its Political system, but the whole point of the Olympic Games is to put aside Political differences and to enjoy Sport for what it is - SPORT. If the athletes decide to boycott the games if China wins the bid, then so be it and that is their perogative. But the Olympic Committee is not there to judge countrys policies, but to see if it is capable of holding successful games.

The news networks are covering it extensively, especially CNN (it's a joint CNN-CNN International simulcast).

It is a news event IMO - the Olympics don't happen every day.

what happened to the special then? Val tried to throw to BBC World at half past, then apologised and did something else. Did they abandon it and forget to tell her? Maybe because the announcment was already made.

Was that David Shukman who presented with Valerie Sanderson this afternoon instead of Bill as he did Breakfast?

Yes it was. Bill's been off News24 all week. He was replaced by Mike Embley Mon-Thur

That twit of a Olympic chairman announced it 20 minutes early, and thanks to him no BBC World News SPECIAL, and I waited a whole f***** day for it:angry: To top it all off, the satellite guy didn't come either:angry::angry:

It's day like this, I wish I was a satellite installer!
