Are we sure there's no hints of the new look? The third image (top right) looks suspiciously like George is sat in the seat normally used by the Sport presenter. Either that or it's a CSO background.
Small, but perhaps a hint nonetheless - maybe no drastic changes to the set.
Oh, and this talk of a videowall - is that not just a jazzed up name for the screen on the left of the studio which has been used like one for ages?

No, that's quite clearly the shot they always use on the 1/6/10 of the presenter in his/her normal seat but turned towards the right hand camera as s/he looks at it. It has the newsroom fully in the background when they aren't using the side panel shot.
They use this to end the bulletin, for 'news in brief' and 'coming up...'

Indeed it will be - it will be nice to have the lovely Ms Raworth back on our screens again.
I have to admit, it was great seeing her at TVC on Children In Need night 2002, along with Mr Bowen. They were very funny! What a great on-air pair they made. Come back Jeremy!!

Fear not. I've looked up my archive and...images from the December 01 2001 broadcast are now available on TV Room:

You'll find them under the December 2001-Current: Daytime/Weekend heading...

No I dont think it was, it was used while the extra red was added to the studio. It looked really good (the virtual one) even the desk was virtual, unfortunatly I've been unable to find any pics of it. It wasn't CSO'ed because they used the normal high shot that fades from the titles.

Thanks for that! So what bits were 'virtual'? The Desk is obviously real as he puts his arm on it? What about the large screen, and where does the Blue glow come from? Im not very good at broadcasting technology.
You dont happen to have the 1999 re-launch promo on video that you have the images for on that page do you?

No, that was Tom Sanders recording the headlines loop for BBC News Interactive. He was using the CSO in the national news studio. The virtual studio is somewhere else in TVC and is not just a screen behind the presenter but all around the room (on the floor as well). It must be really boring for the presenters who always do programs from CSO sets.

Is the Virtual Studio the one that was shown on Outtake TV where the picture behind the newsreader disappeared?

That really was so clever. I'd love to see how that was done. I don't think the desk was real - I mean, there was a desk there, but not the real newsdesk - if you have a look at the high shot the desk looks different to normal.
EDIT:
Come to think of it, looking at the reflection on the desk I doubt they would have been able to re-create that!

(from The TV Room, obviously)
I think all the rest of the newsroom was CSO-ed though.

Oh the trail script is so bloomin' tired and passe - presenters trying to make out they eat breath and sleep news and they shoulder this almost intolerable responsibility - so heavy it's almost too much to handle - of being the eyes and the ears of the nation.
And I do hope that Ms Rayworth won't start flirting with George on screen like she did with her co-presenter on Breakfast. Are we really supposed to think she has the news on all the time? Sad cow if she does.
