What is the general opinion on BBC's return to one presenter for their main news bulletins? Personally, I think the news is more interesting when there are two. Additionally, it must ease the pressure a little in the event of any foreseen mishap. How about a Six O'Clock team comprising Huw Edwards and Fiona Bruce- that would solve a few problems surely!
Yes, I would like Huw and Fiona to present together, with Sian Williams and Chris Eakin as stand-ins. The same goes for One, as I think George Alagiah and Anna Ford would be good together, with Nicholas Witchell and Jennie Bond. Perhaps Peter Sissons/Michael Buerk and Moira Stuart/Jane Hill?
I think that they all sound like great combinations. I'd particularly love to see Sissons/Buerk together - to see Sissons do improvised little chats with Buerk would probably be fun!

Yeah but as a general rule, it is unusual that you would see two presenters of the same sex presenting one bulletin - although I have seen it on occasions.

Martyn Lewis and Andrew Harvey used to regularly front the Six O Clock News.
When I watched the first night of the Six with its current set, it was presented by Huw Edwards on one side of the circular desk, and the other bit was empty - I thought the other presenter was ill
Should the camera which is used for the opening shot be on the other side of the studio so we can see the big screen?
James, I think that image would look much better - a bit similar to that used by ITN. I suggest that it could be complemented with a swift moving camera to give the sense of urgency that was used on the ITV Evening News at 1830 when it was ITV's Flagship programme presented by Sir Trevor but which was subsequently dropped when News at Ten returned.

I agree about the camera moving across the studio floor, but this should be used at the end of the programme, and the camera moving from left to right keeping the big screen in shot, with the lights fading and using the end music from BBC World.
If you listen, where the music changes halfway through, thats when the 1/6/10 logo would be inserted, giving us a better look around the studio, and it would look much better.

Problem with that mock-up, the big screen is a lot further away from the anchor position than your shot shows.

Yes your right - it was a MOCK UP - and thus the set isnt completly perfect, its just to demonstrate to you!
I think that when the titles finish the camera should start at the far end and swing accross to the other end before a close up, then you could get the nice trings fade out on the news theme
