Though I like BBC News at television centre , to me broadcasting house is just boring. And what will accomodate the current BBC News buildingwhen they move?
I can understand that the bomb must have frightened employees at BBC News but surely that wouldnt influence a move of building. I think that broadcasting house would be taking a step backwards, its to old fashioned. Anyway what would they do with the huge newscentre at tvc????
BBC News is more in touch with the rest of the BBC where it is now. If they move it, it would split up the BBC again. I think they should try to come away from broadcasting house as it is not up to the modern standard of television. TVC has to be the best television centre in the world, why start breaking it up. BBC News is in a very modern building which makes the news look modern. If they go back to BH it would make the news seem old. They say it would cost the licence payer nothing. We paid the £41 million to build the current newscentre so they would have wasted all that money.
Bush House's lease is up in 2008 - I wonder if BBC World will move then if they can't get another extension? If BBC News do move back to Broadcasting House, I hope they don't change their look, graphics and idents - I doubt they will because the re-vamp of BBC News, BBC News 24, BBC Regional News and BBC World cost the BBC a lot of money!

From what I've heard they're moving back to BH at the end of the decade or in 2005 or something -- by then it would be time for a revamp, don't you think?

Its obviously something the BBC has thought about. Even though they most likely won't touch BBC News presentation at the moment, BBC News in America is having a new look. An inside source has mentioned that they have designers in at the moment to change the American News 24's presentation (yes, there is one). An interesting thought...
May I point out this is nothing to do with the bomb.
This has been in the news for ages now, well over 6 months. And they will not be moving until something like 2006.
And News24 in america doesn't exist.
BBC World News does, which goes out on PBS. BBC World the channel goes out in the US, there is no such thing as BBC News24 America! It is a British thing..
Where have you heard that, because it is totally wrong!
The only other TV news channel the bbc has is BBC World. Americas main news channels are
CNN, FOX and MSNBC (As well as CNN Headline News) and CNBC. There is no BBC News24 in America...
And if there is, and I have never heard anything of it, and seen as I worked for CNN I think I would have! please show me some proof.
Sky have Sky News Australia, but the BBC only have BBC America, as in the channel, not a news service..

Erm..there isn't BBC America News 24!! The US has BBC World and BBC America takes BBC World output when they closedown (like BBC One and N24).
So there won't be a new look from America News 24!

BBC News is to be put into a newly revamped Broadcasting House along with BBC World Service. This will take place at the end of the decade and will mean that BBC News is located altogether in central London and (quoting from Ariel (31.10.00 Week44)) 'makes TV Centre the BBC's TV production and entertainment base, White City a BBC media campus and Broadcasting house the largest live broadcasting centre on earth.'
