2 Questions re: BBC ONE Ident(s)

- Do the people who appear in the idents actually get credited? Is there a list of people somewhere online, who were involved?

- In which location was the ident Tumbler filmed?

That was used as a filler during the strike service last week, to pad up to an opt point when BBC1 joined IIRC.

Maybe they should use it whilst introducing the back half hour programmes at the weekend...a spinning world as a symbol, who would ever have thought of that one?

Re Tumbler, see this thread - I'm sure Steve D is correct.

I heard on this forum that Haka is resting (again). Is this true and if so why? It was rested in 2003 IIRC and is one of my personal favourites.

perhaps because of a lack of sporting programmes, such as MOTD?

I'm not sure it was 'rested' before? It went in the middle of last month but I'm not sure who made the decision.

That's not how the symbols are supposed to be used.

well its how they are used; the haka was usually used before MOTD on saturday evenings IIRC, and another example, the crowd is almost always used before TOTP. The tai-chi, skaters or acrobats are always used before current affairs programmes.

Shouldn't it be Music Video into TOTP? Although it's being used into Test the Nation. Smile

Only Acrobat, Skate, Tai Chi or Capoeira can be used into News (except if Ballet is deemed necessary) but beyond that it's up to the directors - who aren't supposed to use the symbols in a "cliched" way.

In another thread I posted what I thought to be the general usage of each BBC ONE Ident. The link is below.

As I said in that thread it's entirely up to the director as to which one is played, apart from several marked for use into news programmes. See Dan entry above.

Isn't this more suited to the other forum?
