Well, it's the way the new look News 24 will be placing itself, and I think it will be refreshingly different from Sky and ITV, especially in terms of appearing repetitive for large portions of the day.
I think any objective person would realise that in terms of trust, the Forlong incident on Sky News begs many more questions than what Gilligan may or may not have done (wait for the full report of the Hutton Inquiry on that one). Of course the Forlong story made much less of an impact in news reporting (ironically due to the death of Dr. David Kelly) and will now receive little further coverage due to the equally tragic events that followed.
I think Radio 4 and particularly 'Today' are becoming largely ostracised by 'BBC News' in general, and I'm not sure that in the long term trust in the BBC will be lost, even if listeners leave 'Today' in their droves (and frankly I don't blame them).

I find C4 News unwatchable. This analytical malarkey is beyond me.
