What about new location names on the 10 titles? Jakarta and Belgrade are extremely out of date.

What would they be replaced with? I would say perhaps Baghdad (like Belgrade was in 99, it's now the centre of a coming conflict) but I am not sure about the other one.

How about Pyongyang? May aswell be ahead of the game! It's almost as if Dubya has a checklist - Afghanistan - tick, Iraq - nearly, North Korea - ?, Iran - ? etc

Yes I agree. Shoving the titles into Virtual Dub we get:

10 - Berlin, Brussels, Belgrade, Hong Kong, Moscow, Paris, Jerusalem, New York, Rome, Washington, Tokyo, Johannesberg. (All International)

6 - Belfast, Edinburgh, London, Cardiff, Dumfries, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Birmingham, Swansea, Londonderry, Armagh, Leeds, Nottingham, Perth, Aberdeen, Bristol, Plymouth, Bangor, Norwich, Southampton, Manchester, Glasgow, Inverness, Belfast, Endiburgh, London, Cardiff.

1 - Dumfries, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Londonderry, Armagh, Aberestwyth, Birmingham, Swansea, Bangor, Bristol, Cardiff, Plymouth, Leeds, Nottingham, Aberdeen, Inverness, Glasgow, Manchester, Southampton, Norwich, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast, London.

NOTE: 1 & 6 are both domestic title sequences! And Cardiff is on both titles at least twice and the names are very similar on the 6 and the 1. I bet we've never analysed this before.

I have noticed that News 24 only has "Newcastle" and not "Newcastle-Upon-Tyne" in it's titles. Is there any reason for this?

Well that figures, as the Ten O'Clock News is supposed to be a more internationally orientated bulletin, with the others being more domestic - not to say that they don't include international news or vice-versa, but that is the aim.

Which is why IMHO, Nik Gowing should present the ten!

I have to say that if I was in charge of this sort of decision I don't think I would go for all this white malark - it's a bit of a U-Turn on the branding I think.

However I could be completely wrong and Mrs Hedgehog is probably seducing the man in charge and soon we'll all have the news team dancing around the offices as our titles! ROFL.
