It's funny how BBC sports presenters on normal BBC News get a decent part of the newsdesk to site down and present at - so why don't Breakfast and News 24 do it as well?
On Breakfast they 'plop' Rob Bonnet on the end of the newsdesk to present the sport (usually at 7:35am) and sometimes he does look unconfortable. And on News 24 they sort of 'shift' the Business presenters to one end of the desk to present.
Give Rob a newsdesk for his sport! Give John and Angela on News 24 their own studio to present the business! If sports presenter Colm Harrison on News 24 can have a seperate studio, why can't the business presenters?
TBH, does it really matter? I am sure not many viewers really notice that Rob Bonnet looks 'uncomfortable', as long as they are getting the business or sport.
As for News 24's desk, it is made for three or four people to sit round it. I am sure they took into account where the guests would sit, and do you really think the business people look out of place sitting at the end of the desk? I don't!
Well News 24 could use the small desk opposite the main one, (behind the cameras) where Business Today comes from as well as some other programmes. However, it would mean turning the cameras around, plus the TV screen (is this called the VT monitor?) so they can see whats going on, as well as putting the lights on and off all the time, as they are left off, AFAIK as the small desk is not used very much really is it? Its far more economical to plop the presenter on the end of the large News 24 desk, than to set up all the lights and everything. The News 24 sports is quite a neat operation, their studio is over in the sports newsroom, and literally is the desk with just the amount of wall behind it as you can see onscreen! Any further back for the camera and you could see the edges! As this is so small not so many lights are used, and there is only one camera obviously!
Yes, I agree, Business and Sport Stings would be appropriate on BBC News 24. They could use the BBC World ones, without the 'WORLD' on each of them, or they could get some new ones in their own theme of BBC News 24, perhaps with the '24' in the background, as all the News 24 stuff has the '24' on them and the World stuff has thge globe on them!
Yeah but unlike BBC World, BBC News 24 don't like doing this type of thing, they like to be as bland as possible, while with BBC WORLD, it's the opposite!

I know what you mean! God if only I had power on News 24, think of the things I could do!!!
