I wish that they had showed the damaged newsroom, it would have looked really good with Huw talkng about the bombing and the police investigating the scene behind him.
Yes but they wouldn't have wanted to trivialise it by doing that!

The police would not be likely to allow this. Unfortunately , the officers who investigate terrorist bombings are unlikely to wish to appear on national television. In fact there were very strict filming restrictions throughout TV Centre whilst there was such a large police presence. (The canteen was heaving with uniforms!)

Must have been strange to actually be the news in such a major story. But surely a glass news centre at the HQ of what must be one of the world's most respected broadcasting organisations was something of a target!

And, has any more emerged on the plans to move back to Broadcasting House you BBC insiders!?

Exactly what the unions said when all Radio News staff were dragged from the heart of London to the wastes of White City. They were told not to worry as the BBC has never been a target and was very unlikely to become one in the future.

Shows you the wisdom of BBC management

Indeed!! And now they are going back... in 7 years time! They'll surely do a brand new look for all BBC News programmes then (and they'll need 7 years!!)

Don't you think that the News Centre stood up very well under the circumstances? All of the other buildings around the area were hit very badly. The blast even knocked a solid wall down at the tube station, and most of the windows across the road were blown out.

Considering that the taxi was parked right next to the News Centre and only minimal damage was caused, I think we should take our caps off to the structural engineers for a job very well done! Smile
