Thanks for that.
Why is it taking so long to reglaze the outside of the News Centre - I know there's a lot of curved glass but it was in February!

One of Greg Dykes cut backs?
Don't waste money on trivial things like windows for the news centre.
Money better spent on his new desk.....

I know the N6 News Centre backdrop is not on in the studio all the time but is the camera recording the shot active all the time? If so, did it capture the moment the bomb exploded?

If so wouldnt they have shown the fotage as well as the footage from the roof?
Well, yes, that's what I thought - it must have been off. I suppose it would be silly to have the camera on all the time.

It would be expencive in terms of video/ storage to have the camera running all the time, its probabley only on when its needed (it would be quite good if it was used as a web cam....) . If it was recording the police might have the fotage as evidence but i think this is unlikley.

The camera used to provide the left hand projector backing is just a studio camera and like most studio cameras it is not a camcorder and has no associated VT recorder, and is only really used to feed the projectors live
Well - that's almost right! In fact the camera is recorded onto VERA, a disc recorder, which then plays this back 5mins delayed to feed into the right hand projector (which also projects in mirror image). This means you don't see people walking down the stairs in sync on both projectors in the wide shot! The recording is constantly erased after 5mins, and is not operator controlled. It couldn't easily be stopped even if someone had been in the studio - but the studio had been shut down after it's last broadcast and no-one there.
